Please read: estimate only

This is an estimate only. AutoFie is a private company and is not part of, or approved by, the Ghana Revenue Authority, Customs or any government body. The amount you pay is set by Customs when your vehicle is assessed, and it can be higher or lower than this figure. Confirm with a licensed clearing agent before you buy or ship a vehicle.

How is the estimate worked out? +

Customs values a vehicle from its price when new, less up to 50% for age, not from what you paid. We do the same with our own price guide, add shipping and insurance from the region you buy in, convert to cedis, then add import duty (5–20% depending on vehicle type, fuel and engine size), the import levies, the examination fee for used vehicles, NHIL, GETFund and VAT. Vehicles older than 10 years also pay an overage penalty.

Which vehicles can't be imported? +

From 1 October 2026, used vehicles older than 15 years cannot be imported, nor can flood-damaged, burnt or rebuilt vehicles. Right-hand-drive vehicles are not allowed without a special waiver.

Why might the real amount be different? +

Customs uses its own value for each make, model, trim and year, and its own exchange rate, which changes every week. Trim level, extra features and the date of assessment all change the final figure. Use this estimate to plan, and confirm with a licensed clearing agent.
